Effects of urban geometry on thermal environment in 2D street canyons: A scaled experimental study

چکیده

Changes in urban geometry significantly alters the microclimate. Suitable geometrical layouts can effectively improve thermal environment to achieve a more sustainable and healthier city. A quantitative assessment of relationship between is essential provide scientific guidance for better building design. Hence, we performed scaled outdoor measurement investigate diurnal variations air, west east wall temperatures within two-dimensional (2D) street canyons. We adopted daily average temperature T‾, range DTR, hottest time tmax describe characteristics. The influence aspect ratios was considered (building height/street width, H/W = 0.5, H 0.5 m, 1, 2, 3, 6, 1.2 m). Canyon air experienced smaller T‾ DTR compared with walls. With an increase ratio, no significant difference observed canyon air. walls 6 lower (26.1–26.9 °C) (11.7–18.4 than those 1 (T‾=26.7–28.7 °C 16.0–26.1 °C). higher phase lag occurred 6. As ratio increased, differences decreased. This study improves our understanding how morphology influences provides meaningful references planning. Such high-quality experimental data be used validate further numerical simulations theoretical models.

Wall Estimation from Stereo Vision in Urban Street Canyons

Geometric context has been recognised as important high-level knowledge towards the goal of scene understanding. In this work we present two approaches to estimate the local geometric structure of urban street canyons captured from a head-mounted stereo camera. A dense disparity estimation is the only input for both approaches. First, we show how the left and right building facade can be obtain...

Numerical Investigation on the Effect of Avenue Trees on PM2.5 Dispersion in Urban Street Canyons

The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) model and revised generalized drift flux model were used to investigate the characteristics of airflow fields and PM2.5 dispersion in street canyons with a variety setting on tree crown morphologies (i.e., conical, spherical, and cylindrical), leaf area densities (LADs = 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 m2/m3), and street canyon aspect ratios (H/W = 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0...
